Hopefully the injuries are not more serious than indicated above. This was an advanced fire upon, but in a very routine type of building for Philadelphia F. D. Philadelphia has only one Rescue Company and 2 Squad Companies for the whole city, not enough for a city that size with the amount of fire duty Philly has. Brothers & sisters. remember that the purpose of Rescue Companies traditionally was and IS to "Rescue Firefighters". So, make sure they are truly available for the Rescue of Firefighters. FAST/RIT teams are a must, but Rescue Companies must have the specialized training and equipment that is often required to rescue firefighters, especially in Collapse situations. I had the great honor of working as a Lieutenant from time to time in FDNY Rescue 1. I was told by very experienced Rescue Officers and firefighters that never let your guard down in the middle of firefighting, Rescue's "Job Number one" is to our own brothers and sisters. Captain Bob Rainey FDNY Engine 26 retired.
