The Westerly (RI) FD responded to a structure fire at 3-5 Commerce Street, off Main Street. Fire originated in a second floor apt. of a 2 1/2 frame bldg 80 x 40 with stores on the first floor and apts. above. Fire got into the attic and traveled across the peak with heavy fire through the roof. Pawcatuck (CT) FD responded mutual aid with a FAST team from Old Mystic (CT). Long duration chasing pockets of fire in the attic; heavy water damage to first and second floors. Most of the roof collapsed into the second floor.
