89 fourth due ( or used to be) if in their own quarters. Maybe a typo and they were the Xtr engine? Skipped over a lot of companies (90, 64, 62) if it was 88. Maybe somethin' else going on.
 
Heard this story from the older retired members of E88 at their Centennial a few years ago...

Whenever the bells clanged out 7-5 45XX on those cold winter nights they would secure a tarp over the hose bed and drape it over the handle bar above the back step of their '36 or '47 Mack rigs. They knew they would be relocating to City Island and the tarp would block the wind on their long ride out Pelham Pkwy.
