when ladder 2 was last there during 2005-2006 the rig was parked in a privately owned alley next to 21 quarters which the city rented. Not a whole lot of extra space at 21, pretty small house. They still have the bunk beds up in the bunk room from when 2 truck was there.
 
How about putting the rig inside a cage on 43rd St.? It can't be a problem on a Midtown "NO Parking" almost anytime street. ::)

E26 has a long apparatus floor. When they were a double-co. they actually kept 2 engines & 2 hosewagons in there.
 
I have been to E26 but it was a few years ago, and vaguely remember the apparatus bay was shorter than maybe it used to be due to modifications made at some point, this picture i found on flickr shows that a little, doesnt look like from this photo another engine would physically fit into the house.
