@1212: Second alarm at box 1192 at 3 Avenue and East 90 Street, Yorkville Section of Manhattan.

Normal first alarm: Engines 22, 53, 44   Ladder 13, 43 Batt. 10.
10-75: Engine 91, Rescue 1, Squad 18, Batt. 9, , Ladder 26 (fast truck),  Div. 3,

Probable second alarm assignment: Engines 58, 39, 35   Ladder 25  Batt. 8(Safety), Safety Batt., Rescue Batt. ,Field Comm.

Building address 173 East 90, near Lexington Avenue; fire in the shaft of a 4 story OMD.

@1218: Div. 3 reports three lines stretched and in operation, heavy fire in the cockloft, fire in the dumbwaiter shaft, trucks opening up, penthouse on roof hindering opening up, fire still doubtful.

Extra engine and truck requested prior to the second alarm : Ladder 22 and Engine 76.

Staging area, if necessary, Lexington Avenue and East 92 Street.

@1222: Engine 21 acting Engine 22 is 10-8; Ladder 21 acting Ladder 22 is 10-8.  (What is the chance of that: both 21s to 22s).

@1224: Div. 3: main body of fire in the original fire apt. on first floor knocked down, still have fire up the shaft and in the cockloft, trucks opening up, primary search of original fire apt. is negative, primary on the upper floors is still in progress, fire is still doubtful.  Fire duration is 30 minutes.

Command tactical unit responding.

@1227: Batt 45 relocating to Batt. 9.

@1229: Div. 3 transmits third alarm.  Engines 80 acting 91, 8, 37, 59  Ladders 14, 35- all units to the staging area.  Mask Service Unit, Batt 17 acting Batt12 (3rd alarm chief for fire duty), Batt 4 acting Batt. 8 (Staging Manager), Batt. 39 (Air Recon).

@1230: Div. 3: two lines in the interior, one line up the front fire escape to the roof, one line stretched into exposure 4 up to the roof.

@1237: Engine 73 relocating to Engine 76; Ladder 55 acting Ladder 43 is 10-8; Ladder 18 acting Ladder 13 is 10-8.

@1244: Engine 67 relocating to Engine 37.

Engine 1 relocating to Engine 39.  

@1246: Batt. 39 (Air Recon) inquires whether they are needed; Field Comm. places Batt. 39 10-8.

@1247: Field Comm: Assistant Cheif Galvin reports fire in the original fire building knocked down, some pockets of fire in the penthouse, fire in exposure 4 knocked down, primary search of exposure 4 is negative, fire is probably will hold.  Fire duration is 54 minutes.

@1250: Engine 312 relocating to Engine 35.

@1256: Batt. 6 acting Batt. 8 is 10-8.

@1258: Field Comm: Chief Galvin places this fire under control.  Fire duration one hour five minutes.

@1304: Engine 28 acting Engine 8 is 10-8.

@1312: Ladder 9 acting Ladder 35 is 10-8.

Fire  is  placed  at  Probably  Will  Hold.
