Fire at Brooklyn home kills two

Sunday, July 12th 2009, 8:56 AM

Two people were killed Sunday morning when a blaze engulfed a Brooklyn home, trapping the victims inside.

The fire erupted about 5 a.m. on Avenue K in Flatbush, sending concerned neighbors running toward the burning house.

Glass shattered. Smoke billowed. And a man standing near a second-floor window screamed for help.

"Jump! Jump! Jump!" hollered Anthony Delcid, 30, who stopped at the scene as he was driving home from work. "But he kept praying, saying 'Lord have mercy' over and over again. I heard a woman screaming inside too - for maybe two minutes. Then he disappeared and we didn't see him again."

Delcid and a neighbor in bare feet tried to help, but were beaten back by the raging fire.

"We went around the front and kicked in the door," Delcid said. "We kicked it in and went like three steps into the building, but the smoke was so bad, we couldn't stay."

Neighbor Kissondial Patrick, 57, said the stairs were on fire.

It took firefighters more than an hour to squash the blaze. They were still at the home hours later, searching for other possible victims.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation.

Guess on this one, its going to be hard to get a complete and accurate run down.

Thats a great site, this box is just so ongoing. I posted up to the 3rd alarm from that site but then gets to confusing.
