4/9/23 Manhattan Maritime Emergency Box 8204

Do they have the reserves on the island in use? Or is that weekends only being staffed?

I apologize, I’m sure it’s been covered, but how are the companies getting to GI?

I was literally in Manhattan that day, the 9th was my Birthday. And I thought there was a Firehouse on GI? Like DOC trains CO's to staff Engines on Rikers so it doesn't get out of control by the time FDNY gets there.

DOC staffs on Rikers yes. FDNY has 2 Reserve Engines, 2 Reserve Pumpers, Transport Van & 2 Gators on Gov Island. As of right now they are only staffed between May - Oct on Weekends only adless an event. They staff with 4 FFs & Officer. Sometimes a Battalion. Use to be only E4 / TL15 members now it’s the whole 1st Battalion gets on it, usually senior guys.

E4 TL15 will Respond directly to the Ferry if available they go on it right away with rigs or not depending on the call.

Marine 6 Responds Directly to the Island

Marine 1 Responds to Ferry to pick up more members

If a Fire and E4 TL15 didn’t take rigs the next ferry will bring more rigs over as the Reserve Rigs are all the way in the back of the island.

Also I believe the other ferry from Brooklyn will take guys to the island but don’t believe that runs during the week.

Makes sense.

Gonna change it up a bit. Each Battalion in the 1st Division now covers it for a few weeks on the weekends, it use to be just E4 TL15 and 1st Battalion.

So since the First Division is made up of, Battalions 1,2,4,6,7. Engines 4,6,7,10,24,55,9,15,28,5,14,33,1,3,26,34. Trucks 1,10,15,5,8,20,6,11,18,3,9,12,21,24. Along with SQ18 and SAT 1. So it rotates between the Battalions to a similar concept of the Chiefs that are trained in Air Recon.

Probably not SQ18. They put the list out and whoever wants to work. I believe E9 L6 check the rigs on the off season.
