The Pawcatuck FD was dispatched to a possible structure fire at 108 Brookside Lane in a two story building that is part of a multi-building housing complex. Prior to arrival, units were advised of a working fire with fire out two windows on the second floor. Pawcatuck FD had a full response of three engine, tower ladder, and a rescue. The first Chief on scene declared a working fire and requested manpower to the scene. A first alarm assignment was requested with two engines and a ladder from Westerly (RI), one engine from Wequetequock FD, and a FAST team from Old Mystic FD. One engine and ladder from Stonington Borough relocated to Wequetequock for coverage. Roof operations opened several holes for ventilation. Lines made an interior attack. Heavy fire was showing out two windows.
The fire was knocked down and overhaul was made without the fire spreading to additional apartments. Units were released with Pawcatuck continuing to overhaul and repack. Fire Marshals and investigators from Stonington PD were on scene. Two residents were checked out by EMS on the scene. One cat was rescued.

A blind resident on the second floor was rescued by the Pawcatuck FD. Stonington PD assisted in removing residents prior to arrival of the fire department. Twenty one residents were displaced as a result of the fire.
