The settings on your scanner should be for the steps in the UHF band to be set to 6.25Khz

Ok, I took the 482.0125 from Radio Reference.  What should the actual freq. be for Bkln?

Do I need to do the same for the other boro's & CW?

When I enter 482.006, it come up as 482.000.

Yep - that is what I manually enter.  However, when I press enter, the screen shows 482.0125.5 and all my steps are at 12.5khz (which is the factory setting).

l see they were using the spare Pierce rescue, l know l read it but forget the circumstances as to why they have a Pierce and only one ?

Because they got it through a Homeland Security grant, and Pierce was what the federal government had the grant contract for. FDNY purchasing didn't buy it.

I had an 890 years ago which i think was before they started splitting the UHF in to a narrower band. they lowest steps for the 890 may be 12.5 and you don't have the ability to get to 6.25.
The Brooklyn frequency actually is 482.01875 but any scanner which doesn't have the extra decimal spot will just round it to nearest number.
