10-76 2nd alarm on arrival, yes on arrival. 42 story 200x150, fire initially appeared to be 10 floors from the top. Fire now located in electrical conduit on the 25th or 26th floors & possibly extending up. I think the elevators are out, as in the first progress report (which I think was duration 17 minutes), BC8 reported companies had made it to the 21st floor so far, and were still heading up.

The boss in 54 Engine must have been a boss for a while, in the sense I don't remember someone dumping a 76, then dumping the 2nd Simultaneously, not in a very long time. It used to be that a 10-76 was followed immiedately by a 2nd alarm back in the day when I first came on the job. Staging woulda been Madison and 47. Engine 8 and 2 Truck were out on a CO detector a few blocks away. Tipping the hat to the Manhattan Dispatchers who totally rocked the platform.

Remember FDNY regs state that a 2nd alarm must be transmitted anytime you have smoke or fire showing from a hirise.
Would have to look up the exact words, but if you look up and see something its an automatic. 2nd

I believe the words were outside the skin of the building. Back in the late' 90's/early 00's this was a regular thing. Drop the 76, 2nd alarm right behind it. This continued for a while, then someone put a stop to it.

Boss was LT Kazan from ladder 4, boss from the car bomb.

Its still in the books and they made a slght change to make sure the 76 is done with the 2nd.
There were a few jobs when a 75 went to a 2nd and it didn't trigger the extra units you get with a 76
