I had just gotten up Sunday morning to take out the dogs We all came back in after duty calls. I went back to bed and around 6:30 or so I heard an ambulance on a run. I live on a pretty busy stret so I ignored it. A minute later I heard an engine company response, well I live close to a prettty busy intersection with lots of accidents. About the same time I heard Cicero Tower 1, w are close to several industrial sites. Soon I heard multiple responses and decided to check it out. There was a 2-story building 48 x 100 with the rear part fully involved. This was a building zoned for four families, reports are that 35-40 people were living in this house. Town officials were prohibited from the US govt to enforce code requirements due to discrimination claims. This is the government and we are here to help you. Govt BS. In addition there was a family living in the attic. Final result was 7 killed. A 3 day baby, a 3 year child, a set of 16 year old twins, and a 18, 20, and 21 year old individual. The entire rear of the building from top to bottom is completely gone. :(

On Friday two individuals were charged with seven counts of first-degree murder and two counts of aggrevated arson in regards to this fire. They were the building owner and the building manager. This fire was set to obtain an insurance settlement in excess of 250,000 dolars. The owner had a vacant property in Wisconsin and was facing problems with the IRS. In addition a Cicero firefighter was seriously injured when the chimney collapsed on him. The firefighter spent several days in critical condition and has a long recovery period ahead of him.The two individuals are eligible for the death penalty. ;D
