Mike -

Thanks for the rundown.
Noticed L-127 is listed twice.  Fast and 2nd Alarm.
Normally L-151 would be Fast with L-126 4th Due Ladder - No?
They did just assign L-151 as Fast Relief at 20:03.
Any idea if they where unavailable earlier or were they relieved and now being reassigned?

In addition to L-151, L-120 was also called in as a relief FAST truck (relieved L-133 on exposure 3 side - 113th St.)
E-287 can be added to the list of relief engines called in prior to going U/C.

Several additional special calls of E/T&BNs for relief......one was BN*47 it rarely occurs that they respond off the Rockaway penninsula...BN*33 was then relocated to the 47..........another strange thing at this job was that originally the staging area was designated as 111 St & 86 Av....this is North of Jamaica Av where 111 St is only one lane in each direction ......South of Jamaica Av it is 2 lanes in each direction & much more ideal to stage apparatus......after arrival the staging BC changed it to 112 St North of Jamaica Ave which is only 1lane wide...staging areas as initially directed by the Disp sometime are off...i was Acting DC one night & had a Third Alarm  where the staging area was North of the fire on the main drag that the Fire was on but all the responding Units coming in to it were coming from the South & would have to go into small streets surrounding the Fire to get to it if i did not change it......another time i responded to a Job as the staging Chief & the original designated area was the corner directly in front of the Fire bldg.....maybe some of the Dispatchers on here can clarify how the site is picked.

The criteria we have is no further than two blocks away from the incident, and not on a block that has a firehouse. Not to Monday morning QB my brethren and sisteren in Q, but I would have put it south of Jamaica on 111 because it's a wider block. There's a school, a church and a couple of nasty speed bumps on 111 north of Jamaica.

How well do the dispatchers know the area they are dispatching in? Do they spend time in the field getting familiar with the areas because if I'm hired off the street to dispatch and knowing Queens as well as I don't, I wouldn't know anything about the streets.
