I really can't answer that question. I can only speak for what I do with my probies/younger dispatchers. I tell them to get out and see stuff. I have a bit of an advantage in a situation like yesterday's because I grew up in that general area, and lived nearby for a few years in my adulthood.

Did anybody receive the DARS feed on this job ? all i got was unintelligible .......last week the BX job came in loud & clear.
 
The dars seemed like something was messed up. Heard it the same way on my portable. 
If you listen the carrier was clear but Ht audio was screwed up.
 
Just a guess on my part but I think the audio was being interfered with by the EL, eszpecially if the division car and the FC were parked under them.
