2 engines and 2 ladders in service gets one SOC company. All companies in service gets two SOC companies, the nearest Squad plus the Rescue. Rescue 1 does have a large area in Center City where they go automatically on the box.

I have family in Philadelphia Fire Dept. Great firefighters, but the city needs to reopen at least 1 additional Rescue Co. and also more Squad Companies. What do you do if there are 2 major incidents in the city of Philadelphia at the same time. With all, the old vacant buildings collapses are all too common in the Vacant Row Houses. Multiple rescue incidents have and will happen, at the same time, that means firefighter and civilian lives are put in risk. Perhaps Philadelphia F.D. needs to at least look at what, Boston F.D. had years ago. R.P.U.s = Rescue Pumping Units. Specially trained and equipped Engine Companies that can add to the rescue capabilities of the department and still operate as Engine Companies under normal circumstances. Internet photo of Boston FD R.P.U. is attached Below. Captain Bob Rainey FDNY Engine 26 retired, Boston Engine Squad 18 Mack c1966.jpg
