I certainly have to agree with "MAC8146". A car fire in Times Sq with tires exploding would hit the news a lot quicker than even a dozen cars burning and tires exploding just a few miles away. Maybe only a few blocks away. Now put that same car fire on my suburban Connecticut street and everybody would be out there watching and it would be the talk of the neighborhood for a week. Put that car fire on Bailey Ave in the Bronx and its news for the block for maybe ten minutes, then forgotten about. Similar incidents with very different outcomes.
