Why firefighters dropped a smoldering BMW i8 into a water tank - Safety first 
 
Sounds like a good technique as long as you have a crane handy as well as a big water tank. We used to have discussions about hose lays being fired to water or water to fire but now the discussion is whether you put the fire into the water or the water on the fire!
