ANOTHER WAR YEARS VET PASSES.

In regard to RET LT WILLIAM J. GEIS reply # 2593 above ....

If anybody who knew RET FDNY LT BILL GEIS or knows Brothers in Oklahoma Please pass this on.....

I received this from Tom Hinchey Bill Geis's Cousin...Subject: Masses for Bill Geis
.............................................................................................................................................................................................
On the next two Sundays, June 29 and July 6, a Mass will be celebrated for Bill Geis. Both Masses will be in Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
June 29, 11:30 am (Eastern time}. This Mass will be in Latin. I did this to remember the time when Bill and I studied Latin at 6:30 am classes in St. Thomas Apostle so we could become Altar Boys.
July 6, 10 am (Eastern time). This Mass was a donation from Brian and Gail Martin. It will be in English.
So at 11:30 am on June 29 and again at 10 am on July 6, stop and take some time to remember Bill and say a prayer.

History on Sts. Peter and Paul:
After the end of World War II, when commercial airlines started flying cross country, plane could not fly the distance. They had to stop in cities in the central part of the United States for refueling. The airlines had to have airports with large hangers in the central part of the country. That is why today, Chicago is home to United; Kansas City was the home to TWA; Tulsa is the home to American. To open Tulsa, American offered move policies to any mechanics willing to transfer. {Similar to what I did with computers in 1974.} When the transferred employees got to Tulsa, there was no Catholic church close-by. That was the initiative to build Ste. Peter and Paul. It is called 'the Church that American Airlines built'. Today it is still a beautiful church though in a poorer side of town.

God Bless you, Bill
Rest in Peace
Cousin Tommy
