Blue stripes

Are can someone tell me why sometimes blue stripes instead of the white strip attached to the vehicles
 
it is a show of support for  NYPD  because of recent issues with police being attacked.

It would be nice if FDNY developed a standard for this, such as the blue down the middle of the stripes, and applied it to all of the companies!  Of course it would also be nice if NYPD put some kind of tribute to the firefighters on their equipment!

I was just thinking the same exact thing
 
It was our way of showing solidarity and support towards the NYPD.  It's not permanent, nor should it be.  I have no expectations of seeing anything for firemen on an RMP.  We supported each other before the blue stripes and we'll do so after.  This was a special circumstance due to a tragic event and severe anti-police rhetoric.
