Busy as Hell Vol 2, pages 206-209 details the events of my uncle Lt Donovan and his shooting.Classic Boston 3 decker fire. Back in the time, the late great, Leo Stapleton was Fire Commissioner and Chief of Dept. of the Boston F.D. the response to multiple alarms was redefined by reducing the number of units that responded on each alarm. This gave the Incident Commander a better handle on the number of units responding on each alarm but eventually resulting in more alarms but less units responding on each individual alarm. I have always looked up to Leo Stapleton truly a "G.O.A.T. and all the great "Jakes" in the Boston Fire Dept. then and now. One of the Best firefighting books ever is "Busy as Hell" 1 & 2. about the "War years" in the Boston F.D... Stay safe brothers and sisters.
