Boston Fire Department Ladder 13 may be reorganized at the quarters of Engine 22, 700 Tremont Street, South End, where they were located before being disbanded in 1981.

This firehouse was opened on June 11, 1960 when Engine Company 22 and Ladder Company 13 moved in. Both fire companies moved from their former quarters at 70 Warren Avenue which they had occupied since August 1, 1901.

The firehouse is located at 700 Tremont Street at the corner of West Concord Street, in the South End section of the city.

Two plaques are mounted on the exterior of the firehouse to commemorate five firefighters who died in the Line Of Duty at the Vendome Hotel Fire on June 17, 1972.

One plaque is inscribed to members of Ladder Company 13 and the other to members of Engine Company 22.

Engine 22 has a large response area, covering the South End, Roxbury, Back Bay, and Fenway areas. Engine 22 responds to approximately 2600 incidents per year. Sharing the firehouse with Engine 22 is the Firefighter Rehabiliation Unit (W25) and the Hazardous Materials (Haz-Mat) Response Unit (H3).

Engine 22 is a very busy single company and their response area continues to be built up with new developments and apartments in the Waterfront Area and the South End. Engine 38's (disbanded) former quarters in that area currently houses the Boston Sparks' Boston Fire Museum.
