A question for our learned Fire Alarm Dispatchers.  What are the CADS designations for the following types of units: Rescue Battalion, Marine Battalion, Squads, Foam Units, Airport Hose Wagons (316 & 308) and Maniforld Hose Wagon (329).  Thanks!

Rescue BN:RB01
Marine BN:MB01
Squads: Sq01, E018,E041,E061,E252,E270,E288, However they are sown in "reverse video" to denote them as Squads.
Hose Wagons:H308, H316
Foam Carriers: F005, F095, etc.
Foam Tender: FT01
329's sand rig(Manifold Hose Wagon) does not have a CADS designation, since it is understood they are going on any fire run together, and they are cross staffed by 329.

Airport HoseWagon 308, and 316 carry a hose bed of Large diameter hose for long lays on the airport property. That would allow water to reach all the runways if needed. Remember, there are no hyrandts on the runways. Both rigs are older FDNY Engines that run as a second piece to Eng Co 308 and 316.

Are these the old Satelite trucks without the Deck Gun?

RPM3311, No these units are just regular older FDNY Engines with the entire hose bed packed with 5 " hose. I"m not sure how much hose they actually carry though. They are basically just a hose carrier unit refitted from the shops.

The hosewagons were recently replaced with Satellite 3 and 5's old rigs with the deck gun and foam packs removed.

They wouldn't have been FDNY engines with cabs that small though, would they?

For Queens1985 -- the Decision Dispatcher adds a one-letter suffix when assigning a unit for a specialized function.  "S" is used to indicate a ladder is to respond as a SOC Support Ladder.  Other ladder company functional suffixes are C-Chemical Protective Clothing Company, D-Technical Decon task force, F-FAST unit, H-High Rise Response Team, R-Rescue Collapse transport, T-Transport backup, W-Water/Ice rescue unit.

Engines, rescues, squads, and battalions have similar suffixes for their specialized functions.

Some new CADS-designation inquiries.  Command Tactical Unit and Field Comm Battalion.  When a BC is assigned to a multiple alarm for a specific function (RUL, Safety, etc.) does their ticket show that assignment?  If so, how would that appear in CADS for those assignments (Air Recon, Safety, RUL, Sector Group Supervisor, Staging?)  Thanks in advance!

The Command Tactical unit is CT01.

As of right now, the BC in FC is designated FC03. That may change.

To designate what function units play, we append a letter code to their CAD designation. For safety Officer it would read BC41S. For a vent truck it would say L105V. CFR engine, E202C. Etc.

Frank,

Do the Companies/Chiefs with these auxiliary assignments know what the letter codes mean (I'm sure it was on the DOs, Comm Manual), or are the Dispatchers - as usual - required to tell them in each and every case; and then be held responsible when the field units goof up?
