Car 4, 4C, 4D Vehicles

What kind of rigs are the operations chiefs like Car 4, 4C, 4D using now?  What were they using around the time of 9/11?

Ford Excirsions or Chevy Tahoes.  They're all black and unmarked, really not very remarkable.

Most likely as the city buys in bulk and distributes to various agencies.

NYPD has Ford Explorer PIs for a lot of the Brass as well as some Highway & special Units....FDNY is only begining to get into these models for the EMS Brass...even though the Explorers are badged as "Police Interceptors".... powerwise they are a far cry from earlier PIs.....also to answer your question about FDNY Brass on 9-11....they mostly used Crown Vic PIs unmarked & in various colors.

Well they are as much of a PI, maybe more so, as the Ford Taurus are that Ford is passing off as police cars!

I think during 9/11 there may have been a few caprices and luminas in service as well. And if were talking what big bosses are driving now, Cassano has a suburban and Kelly has an expedition.
