I've seen a big trend towards this lately. Lots of departments buying trucks with no chrome, just black powercoated or black bed liner type material covering all the diamond plate.

More interesting fluff. I was chief /fire marshal for Celina TN which is the namesake of Celina TX. The TX version is doing a lot better than its TN counterpart.
