This incident occurred last week and is now the source of local media attention. Because CFD has not acknowledged the chief I have omitted his name from the story. He is assigned to a battalion in the city's 6th district. The house was dispatched at approximately 4 AM for a fire bomb thrown into a private residence. When the first arriving companies got to the fire they noticed the chief was not among them. Because this was a confirmed fire a second chief was dispatched and he directed operations. The reason I posted this was in case it shows up on other sites. It is not intended to bring ridicule on CFD. I am sure it is not the first time and I bet it won't be the last time.

I posted this in case in came up on other web sites. Obviouslu in the eyes of some this this a joke. I am sorry I posted it. It was an informative post in case it came up somewhere else. BC's have NO DRIVER.

I don't think anyone here can honestly say that they never slept through a dispatch. And if not for someone waking you up, you would of missed the run. If that person didn't wake you up, you would of been in the same situation.
I would now have a standing order that the rookie better wake my butt up before getting on the rig.

Adding to this story to try and make a bit of fun.  I know of an officer (now retired) who used to sleep on his way to the jobs on the nightshift.  The crew even had to wake him up just before they arrived  :D

He was also told not to ever use the station pole on the nightshift as he was still sleeping when he fell down it answering the firecall.  ;D

Thought i would give you guys a laugh about that 1.  Anything like that happen to you guys or heard similar?
