Chicago Fire Department Classics.........

Anyone know what other Cities out there have Chief Aides. I know Nashville and Wimington,DE do not.
 
Va. Beach does not, when I run for the BC when he's off it's ridiculous. Driving, multiple channels to monitor, MDT, pager & cell phone going off. Norfolk & Portsmouth Va. have them, not sure about Chesapeake

I believe they are being phased out in LA City.
Big Moe and Big John were retired a few years ago in Chicago. If I remember right.
I believe Little John is still in service as Turret Wagon 6-7-1. I have pictures of it. It's two large caliber deck guns, hydraulically controlled, with 8 inlets on the back bumper. It's a 1975 Mack tractor.

Chicago Battalion chiefs do not have aides/drivers. Deaputy District Chiefs (2-2-1 to 2-2-6) do have drivers aides. In Boston the mayor was a real ass, to prove a point he eliminated all the chief's driver/aides. Two months later a chief was seriously injured while responding to a fire when he lost control of his vehicle while setting up company instructions. When the new mayor was sworn in (Mayor Flynn) he appointed Leo Stapleton as Commish. His first order:Re-instate the chief's aides.  ;D
 
Chicago turret units. 6-7-1 (E-23) 1975 Mack (MB) with two Stang guns, 6-7-3 (E-108) 1981 Chevrolet 2 Eastman guns, 6-7-6 (E104) 1975 Chevrolet with 2 Eastman guns. 6-7-3 is located on North side while 6-7-6 is located on the cities south side. 6-7-1 is located centrally. This would be the modern Big John!
