I saw that car in person 2 years ago at the NYPD police car show in lower Manhattan and it was beatifically restored. If i remember correctly it won best of show

Wow, what a memory jogger. I remember those well. Those "slant 6" engines were so easy to work on. You could practically sit on the inside fender and change plugs. Of course the body would rust off the car but those engines kept on purring.

Where is that, I think ceramic, maltese cross that was white with red letters and numerals? They used to be mounted near the grille on FD cars both marked and unmarked. Anyone remember what I mean?

If you look closely at the photo, the Maltese plate is mounted between the bell and the siren [it's covered by a black shroud].
