Boston College was scheduled to play in a major bowl game but they were defeated by Holy Cross, ironically another Jesuit college. Plans for a celebration were cancelled after the BC loss or the death toll would have been higher. Box 1514 was transmitted, arriving units found a car fire. E7/L17 were returning when citizens informed them of the Coconut Grove incident. Like the Happy Land incident in the Bronx the fire was knocked down quickly but the damage was done. Many people were trapped in the revolving doors, this is why there are outward doors next to revolving doors. My mother was a nurse @ Boston City Hospital that night, she never talked about it. Many medical advances came from this incident. This fire was two weeks after 6 Boston FF's were killed in a collapse @ Box 5- 6153. Bad couple of weeks for the citizens of Boston.
