The new fire house topic sparked a question. What were the latest companies to move out of single quarters to combine in a new or existing house? I can think of E15 moving to TL18, 201 & 114 new house, 63 & 39? Any others?

I know it is not an FDNY answer but December 18, 1974 Boston closed 3 single company houses, Engine 12, Engine 14, and Ladder 4 to new quarter at 174 Dudley Street. Ladder 4 was the last single ladder company house in the city. In addition in 2021 Chicago opened a new house for Engine 75, Engine 115, and Truck 24 on the Far South Side. Truck 24 was the last single truck house in the city proper, the engines were in single houses as well.

There’s been a lot throughout the history of the dept. A ton of companies were in single houses up until the 60s/70s. There’s also been quite a bit of shuffling companies around. One example as stated above. Also L-59 was organized on Boston Rd at the old Bx tin house with E-85 in quarters. They moved to E-43 in the late 70s and E-85 was disbanded in the 80s
