Command Tactical Unit

Maybe its splitting hairs, but it bothers me that sometimes they call it the Command Tactical UNIT and other time they call it the Command Tactical VEHICLE.  I guess I just like consistency.
 
That's because they are two seperate units, the command tactical unit was the ex ambulance, it was painted all red and had a bunch of a cameras in it and was activated as a part of the fire operations center and was staffed by a lieutenant and firefighter. The command tactical vehicle is the ford van and I think is a more  down graded version of the unit. Someone please help here but I think the unit had something happen to it and wasn't put back in service ?? I can't remember if the vehicle was a replacement or a supplement of capabilitys. I am also not sure if there are one or two command tactical vehicles as the one I have seen and the pictures floating around has CTV 2 on the door

they are the same thing... doesn't matter how it was lettered.. the van replaced the ambulance. How they come over the radio is i suppose the preference of the officer..

If I understand this correctly, the TCU and TCV are one and the same?  And the officers decides which name to use on the radio? 

The second part really surprises me. Because things aren't confusing and complex enough at the world's largest fire department, the officer can pick what to call the unit!?  That doesn't make sense to me, but I'm a stickler for details.
 
Vehicle, Unit, symantics.  It's the same thing and it is called the Command Tactical Unit.  Period.
 
According to the March/April 2015 Fire Apparatus Journal the command tactical unit was assigned a 2008 gmc pickup that replaced the old ford ambulance. I believe that the pickup is replacing the old ford van that was assigned to the comand tactical unit 2.

Comm. Tac. is summoned to multiples and sets up cameras on exposures and in the rear providing the chiefs at the CP with views of the roof, sides and rear.  The also set up screens connecting the IC to the Operations Center in HQ who ca provide maps and aerial sat. photography.

Perhaps, but they dont really go to the same things.....

The MCC doesnt often respond to anything.  Its setup during staging for a preplanned event.  Some extremely prolonged operations may warrant its response, but thats about it.  An average multi-alarm fire might get the Comm. TAC. , but never the mcc
