SUBJECT: INSIDE LOOK AT THE 7th BIGGEST USA FIRE Dept.
This coming Tuesday night, the 2ndt of Dec, we will be holding the monthly Zoom meeting at 7:30 p.m.
I am honored to announce that Retired Staff Chief Tom O’Connell from Florida has accepted an invitation to be the guest speaker tomorrow night, the 2nd of Dec. Unlike his previous appearances on NYCFire.net monthly Zoom meeting, Tom will be sharing his knowledge of the Metro Dade Fire Rescue.
Tom’s life experiences started as a Boy Scout working on getting the Firemanship Merit Badge, graduated to buff status. Upon moving to Pearl River, NY and joining the local volunteer dept. Upon relocating to Florda, Tom took the state fire test and became a volunteer before joining the Sunrise Dept upon their extension when they opened their second. Tom saw the department expand up to five full-time stations. Off duty, he became one of nation’s leading Haz-mat instructors. His knowledge came in handy to FDNY as they were creating Haz-mat One. He has served his time oncca1 ‘The Rock’ several times as an instructor.
