Unfortunately, there are several similarities between the 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor and the attack 60 years later on 9-11:

- unprovoked attacks w/o declarations of war against America
- attacks were made on American soil
- failure of intelligence to prevent attack
- Americans were shocked by attacks
- over 2000 Americans killed in each attack
- many uniformed Americans killed (sailors, soldiers, marines and firefighters, cops) in attacks
- subsequent fear of follow-up attacks
- Americans pulled together after attacks - public opinion galvanized
- Presidential speechs after attacks
- US government declarations of war (WWII and War on Terror)
- lengthy and costly wars fought after attacks
- attacks had far reaching effects which changed everyday lives and world-wide politics and economies

Lest we forget

When the 9-11 attacks occurred it was instant news. On the day of December 7, many football fans were notified @ their stadiums, no late games. Believe military personnel were ordered to report back to duty stations!

Some interesting similarities. Yes, history does repeat itself. Whether it be 1941 or 2001, we can never let our guard done.

We should never forget and always be prepared.

May they all Rest in Peace.
