"Angels Night" fires for the night of 10/29/2010
1E & 1L = 1 Engine + 1 Ladder handled.
Box Alarm = 3 Engines, 1 Ladder, 1 Squad, 1 Chief
Extra companies in service (these are closed companies or "2nd sections" in service for the Devils Night period)
Engine 18X, Engine 21, Engine 31, Engine 47, Ladder 4X, Ladder 24, Ladder 26X, Chief 3X, Chief 4X.

Note: Garage fires in Detroit only get a Still Alarm (1 Engine, 1 Ladder) response.

Thanks "MichaelS" for your story and rundown on Detroits Angel Night. If anybody is hanging around tonight (Oct 30) it might be worth listening to on www.radioreference.com . I'm not sure if it requires a yearly fee though. I'll be working my part time job, so I hope somebody will give us a rundown on the workload.

And a "Blast from the Past". In 1984 (?) a few friends of mine went to Detroit on Devils Night. There were 200 Working Fires in that year, and I think that Firehouse Magazine did a story on it in the December '84 or January '85 Issue. My buddies said that there were buildings on fire in front of them and both sides of them as they rode down a street.

The next year I went there. I only caught Eight working fires. The city had every public works and city vehicles out patrolling the streets with extinguishers. In addition there was a Huge Civilian Patrol and all rubbish piles were removed by public works. It did work as the fires were significantly cut back that year.
 
No fee needed to listen to Detroit on RR. Will be doing another log tonight if possible of the Devils Night fires.
