Dispatch question

The Central Dispatch Offices for Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Staten Island are all located at Metrotech Center.

The Bronx and Queens Offices operate out of separate buildings in their respective boros.

I believe there are plans to combine the Bronx and Queens Offices into one new building. Prior to moving to Metrotech, the Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Staten Island Offices operated out of their own buildings like the Bronx and Queens Offices do.

They should have stayed in there own buildings and boros much better that way

Right now, just Brooklyn and SI are in PSAC 1. Manhattan is in with Da Bronx in the XCO. Queens is alone in the QCO. PD is scheduled to move into PSAC 2 this month but it might be delayed. Don't look for us to go any time soon. My guestimate would be late 2017/early 2018 at best.

Thank you very much for that info Frank. Recently I rode by "The Cube" and wondered when it is opening and who will go there.

Also, in a somewhat unrelated matter, over the last several months I have noticed that it seems the FDNY has cut down on power on those 154 high bands. Coming in from Ct., I used to pick them up some 60 miles away (Bridgeport). Over the last few months only once I get about 25-30 miles away (Stamford). And this is using the same radio, antenna etc.

Another thing I have noticed is that I can really only pick up the newer UHF channels maybe 5-6 miles out, maybe less. I'm talking the New Rochelle tolls on I-95. Before, I would pick those channels up to maybe the NY/CT line (10-15 miles). Even guys that live within or just outside the city tell me this.

Did the FDNY cut down on the amount of power they transmit on ? Although I have noticed no difference with the NYPD.

I don't know what's going on with the VHF transmitters but if I were to take a wild guess I'd say that they're just not being monitored or maintained.
