Engine 237 10-13

Anyone know Engine 237 status from there 10-13 last night. They were responding and they reported there rig was getting stripped and destroyed.
 
Apparently FDNY was staging equipment in Manhattan for the games. There was actually several 10-13 calls thru all 3 agencies last night. According to FireWire 237 was surrounded and couldn't respond and was being damaged and stripped. An EMS unit was surrounded and couldn't respond, and a NYPD Sgt also called in saying he was trapped in his car while it was being destroyed. All about thr same time frame and within blocks of each other's.

Hopefully the unruly fans didn’t destroy 1.5 million dollars worth of city property.
 
Correct. These sanctioned & facilitated outdoor gatherings are a new thing.

The purpose for doing it? Clearly it’s to cause mayhem. Sounds crazy, yes.
But there is no other explanation.

The purpose of a system is what it actually does.

Attempted to make a list of incidents I heard of PD CW3 last night between 23:30 and 00:45 (11:30PM to 12:45AM),

  • 4 10-13's came over in about 60 seconds (9th Ave, Union to Grand, 7th Ave & West 111th, Somewhere on West 26th?, and West 108 and 6th)
  • 5th 10-13 in the 105th,
  • 6th 10-13 in Midtown called in by a 19th Pct Detail,
  • Ped Struck in Midtown South,
  • Supervisor trapped in a school bus surrounded by a crowd of 100 people,
  • person shot in the 73rd, later unfounded
  • person shot in the 108th, later unfounded
  • person shot 73rd and Lex, later unfounded
  • person shot in the 47th, later unfounded
  • 8th 10-13 in the 75th,
  • shots fired 93rd & 2nd,
  • confirmed shots in the 67th Pct,
  • unconfirmed (?) shooting on 203rd St Manhattan,
  • unconfirmed (?) shooting at South Brooklyn Hospital,
  • another shooting in the 73rd Pct,
  • 9th 10-13 29th & 2nd,
  • unconfirmed location for a 10th 10-13,
  • Person Shot Amsterdam and Broadway, unfounded
  • 11th 10-13 42nd & 7th TEA Supervisor trapped in RMP, being surrounded by 5,000 people,
  • 12th 10-13 in the 67th Pct, possibly related to the previous confirmed shooting
Also unconfirmed reports saying Suffolk County PD was asked to respond somewhere within City Limits.

Total numbers are 1 person shot, 4 stabbed, 10 MOS injuried, and somehow only 63 collars.

Way back in the day when I was a vollie, my company responded one morning to an electrical fire in a floor tile supply store in a shopping center. The minor fire was in a coffee maker plugged into a wall box right next to the back door. A genius on the pumper puts it out with a dry chemical extinguisher he grabbed off the tail board. Fortunately, I got there late. When I walked in, I found every square inch of the place covered in powder. To say the owner was mad would have been a flagrant understatement.
