Engine 85 was originally a Marine Company. It was changed to Marine 3 in 1959, Marine 3 was disbanded in 1966. Engine 85 was brought back on line as an Engine Co. in 1967 and housed at 1215 Intervale Ave. It was disbanded in 1986 to organize Ladder 53

I believe E. 85 was housed on Boston Road for a while after their stay at the quarters of E.82.

Yes, it was one of two pre-fabricated firehouses with corrugated sheet metal skin that the city installed during the "War Years". The other one for E232 & L176 on Rockaway Ave., Brooklyn was actually called the "Tin House" which is on L176's ladderboard: "Tin House Truck" ;)

Lafayette Street has not been an active firehouse for decades.  It is a classic, architecturally beautiful building, but Engine 31 has long since been gone.

Yes, the House now utilized By EMS was the home of Eng 85 and Lad 59.  Ladder shuttled over to Sedgewick, and Engine became TL53.  EMS has had possession of the building for quite some time.

If you want a model there are some people who kitbash Code 3 engines. They will take a Code 3 Engine and renumber it for you. Look on the FDNY ebay site and you will see some kitbash items up for sale.  Also you can contact the Firefighter Plus website and a fellow named Pete Arnold can hook you up. If you need more info you can e-mail me.

I think TURK132 is referring to a Code 3 Collector truck, not the EMS Station that was the former Eng 85/Lad 59 Qtrs. No Code 3 Collector truck was ever made of Eng 85, BUT their old firehouse (Tin House) is now the home of EMS Station 26 (?) on Boston Rd. at 169 St.
