Fairfax Fire and Rescue Department units responded to a townhouse fire, Monday, May 20, 2013, at approximately 2:25 p.m., in the Reston area of Fairfax County. The single family home is located at 11881 Saint Trinians Court.
Firefighters encountered heavy smoke coming from the first floor of the three-story, middle townhouse upon arrival. Firefighters conducted an aggressive interior fire attack and quickly brought the fire under control. Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the first floor; however, there was significant smoke damage throughout the home. A neighbor called 911 when they noticed smoke coming from the home. No one was home when the fire broke out. Three adults and a child have been displaced. Red Cross is supporting the occupants. There were no injuries.
Damage is estimated at $100,000.
According to fire investigators, the fire was accidental. Unattended food on the stove caused the fire.
