Favorite Dispatcher Past or Present?

Too many to list but 104 in the BX was good, and I have to mention Tim Sullivan Disp. 393 who was there in the mid to late 1990's.

Alright, I'll bite. I can't comment on "favorite" without stepping on toes...but all mentioned so far are good picks. Doc (RIP), Bill Treanor, Wah, Yak, all aces. Beef gets points for being fun to listen to and to chuckle at. Mark Mianulli, #281 (RIP) was always a comfort on the radio. Ted Byers, mister TWO TWO TWO. Though only a dispatcher briefly in the 90s, I was always partial to Joe DiBernardo #356. He went on to R-3 and was involved in the Black Sunday incident. Bill Hahn # 106 also is pretty good.

Let's not forget some of the new kids on the job who are aces... Jeff F #244 in the Bronx comes to mind, also Eddie O in M.

It would be a telling survey to see who was your LEAST favorite dispatcher...

It's always an interesting question to ponder about what makes a "favorite" dispatcher...it's kind of like a DJ on a radio station. It's a combination of personality, unique delivery, speaking style, and of course, knowing your sh*t!

You gotta love when guys command the radio! "I want 157 ONLY!" That kinda stuff makes me laugh, or something like "lets get rid of the 84's, it too damn busy for that".  ;D

No 84's tonight. Kinda reminds me of George Munch, dispatcher for "The Boro of Fire" on those busy Fourth of July Nights. I don't think anybody did it better. He knew where all the units were and what was going on. And no computer, just street knowledge. I once heard rumor that they kept the radio dispatchers post open just for him on those Fourth of July's.

All the above are/were Great. Some retired. Some still on the job. I guess you kind of have to know what your doing to be a dispatcher for the busiest fire dept in the World. They are really the BEST. I guess that Supervising Dispatcher Raffa (FD247), must really "crack the whip to keep those guys in line".

I'll go with George, but I don't want to cheat the others either. "GREAT JOB GUYS".

For me its gotta be......

Beef, George Munch & the Yak.

Also Dispatcher 416 he was working Manhattan durning 9/11, does anyone know where he is now????

He's in Queens now. Sol Elbaum has been out of the job something like 11 or 12 years. I can't say I had a favorite, but there were many I liked listening to and learned a lot from.

Have to agree, they all are EXCELLENT and are probably the most listened too, fire dispatchers in the WORLD! Always got a chuckle out of "tree-tree" (33), who was that, think it was the Bronx.
You all do a wonderful job and deserve a lot more recognition from the higher ups!

It was always funny hearing "tree tree oh" say "reporting Schhhhmoke"...he sounds like a funny guy  ;D

We grew up in the same neighborhood buffing E60/L17/BC14 so he comes from a good background ;)

You also hear Brooklyn Dispatcher Lloyd Moskowitz on that War Years Audio. The War Years Firefighters were really an amazing generation of men. The workload was unfathomable ...

LOL jeez r1smokeeater how'd you get this? My dad has tapes of all this stuff. This is great thanks. I'm gonna see if I can put some of his stuff up, got a great tape of a few jobs from 77 bronx, that I haven't heard you put out yet. Thanks !
