What the hell is it? I saw a picture of it. Is it a brush rig?  Or something like FDR 2

ATRV 329 is a second piece for Engine 329.  It carries hoses and a manifold and is used to access areas of far southeaster Queens (e.g. Breezy Point) where a normal apparatus may not be able to respond due to the narrow, sandy/dirt streets that make up the neighborhood.  It replaces a 1970s GMC manifold wagon.

All Terrain Response Vehicle 329 is a four-wheel-drive 2007 Ford F-550 with a four-door five-person crew cab, aluminum body, and single wheels both front and rear.  It has two 2?-inch rear inlets, two 2?-inch rear discharges, one 2?-inch discharge on each side, and an Akron 3426 deck pipe.  The three-section hose bed is configured for 20 sections of 3?-inch and eight lengths each of 2?-inch and 1?-inch hose.

I live about two miles away from E329, they use that rig for responses on the Federal parkland in thier response area and in Roxbury and Breezy Point, where there is a helluvalotta sand that city apparatus will get stuck in.

The rig also can change the air in the tires.

There is no pump in the rig.  The concept is for the Engine to take a hydrant on the street, and then the ATRV will lay 3 1/2 to the scene.

It has no pump or booster tank, basically a hose wagon. Its primary use is to transport members to the beach with it being 4x4 for calls involving boats in distress and fisherman that get stuck on a rock jetty during high tides/storm surges. in E329 first due area they can be 2 miles from paved roads. All the 5 volunteer fire engines in the area have four wheel drive and big knobby tires for the sand
