From the Sullivan County Democrat DOWN THE DECADES in an issue printed Tuesday July 12 2011 page 12A:

"1941 Carol H Bischoff of Hook and Ladder 8 in New York, who lost his life Saturday when he was trapped in a fire at 200 Broadway which injured 31 others and is said to have caused one other fatality, was a native of Cochecton Center. Mr Bischoff was killed when a floor gave way. He was buried in Brooklyn with a deputy chief's rites."
