FDNY, Group Respond Following Trademark Flap

Absolute horse shit. These guys, from what I have read, are trying to do the right thing. Instead of pointing a finger and saying, "no, no, no", maybe the idiots at 9MT could have gotten on board and assisted them. I wonder what's next?? Going after people who own old FDNY rigs that are marked as FDNY and telling them to cease and desist?? Total horse shit.

Little upset by this. These are traveling museums to me.  Saw a 1950 Mack that looked as good as the day it started with fdny. Should be loose this history by telling the private owner to remove all markings.

How about they just have them add a disclaimer.  These are real fdny rigs not some rigs made to look like fdny. Let's save the history.

Wasn't a retired and privately owned fireboat still with FDNY markings on it put to work at ground zero on 9/11.

That was before the braintrust at 9MT figured they could make a fortune off of licensing and trademarking the FDNY name. Wonder what they're going to do when the Firefighter gets turned into a museum.

Almost forgot. I have a friend out in Arizona who makes decals for MODEL FIRE TRUCKS, MODELS!!!! You know, the little Code 3's or something similar. Well, he got a cease and desist order from Headquarters for Copyright infringment when someone saw the department patch, which was about the size of a dime, and another the size of a quarter on the decal sheet. He removed the patch, and proceeded to sell the sheet without the patch, but moved the FDNY to NYFD as so to keep Headquarters off his back.

The suits and lawyers that work for NYC would rather see these rigs destroyed than let someone, anyone make a dime on them. Charity or not. Smells as bad as the time the city went after all the websites that had FDNY in the name.

Ah, so God forbid a situation like that ever happened again and the fireboat was put to work again, they would be charged for the privilige of working for the FDNY. Praise the Almighty Buck!

The John J. Harvey served the FDNY until her retirement in 1994.
On September 11, 2001, John J. Harvey was reactivated as FDNY Marine 2. Alongside FDNY fireboats Firefighter and John D. McKean, she pumped water for 80 hours, until water mains were restored. The story of John J. Harvey is the subject of countless news articles and a 2002 Maira Kalman book.

total b.s., i dont understand why the muckheads at 9MT can let this bug them but once they get complaints regarding real important issues suddenly they look the other way.
