The Fireboat Fire Fighter Museum and Mystic Seaport are hosting the Fire Fighter Festival on Saturday August 26th to mark the 85th birthday of Fire Fighter, a former FDNY fireboat that served the city from 1938-2010. Festivities start at 10AM and will continue to 5PM and will feature antique apparatus from the surrounding area, dockside exhibtions of local fire and police boats, a USCG helicopter rescue demonstration, Newfoundland dog rescue demonstrations, fire apparatus demonstrations as well as music and kid-friendly activities.
The birthday girl herself will be open for guided tours and will conduct dockside water displays at 11AM, 1PM and 3PM as part of the festivities. Admission is free to all first responders and Mystic Seaport Museum members, $10 for all other attendees. A suggested donation of $10 benefits the non-profit Fireboat Fire Fighter Museum efforts to preserve, maintain and operate this unique piece of fire fighting history. We hope to see you there!
