Once again, an FDNY fireboat is at a dock in New London, CT for repairs.  It is either the "343" or "Firefighter II".  I believe the last time it was the "343" and it stayed in drydock for a very long time.

Seems like those boats are going out of service an awful lot for how new they are. Does anybody have any idea what kind of work is being done on them?

Based on the Marine Traffic website, the Firefighter II got to New London on 2/8/2020. The Three Forty Three is currently showing at quarters in Manhattan.

It might be there five year marine vessel inspection. It is a must for under maritime law.  While in the drydock they might be doing maintenance that cant do while in the water like Hull paint job, replace zincs, and other repairs or upgrades to the vessel.

As of 3/4, the boat is still sitting high and dry in the repair facility in New London, CT.

Keep in mind that this is like any other City contract.  A day when nothing is done is still a day full of billable hours.

Fireboat at the repair facility in New London. Not sure which one but it is in the water at the dock, not up in a dry dock.
