Before WWII, the London Fire Brigade had living quarters for families and a bar- obviously modeled on Royal Navy traditions.
In WWII the Eighth Air Force (and likely others) had "medicinal" alcohol rations for bomber crews after a mission. My father didn't drink so he gave his issue to his bombardier Roy B. from Nashville. Roy made sure it wasn't wasted
