Weather Conditions: Overcast.

Description of Incident: Fully engulfed working fire on the first floor with two rescues including one civilian fatality. Home was two-story brick and vinyl-sided as well as cluttered inside, but especially outside, which made extraction and search efforts more difficult. Originally dispatched to 4 MacArthur Dr., but address later corrected to 46 Havemeyer Lane. Caller was next-door neighbor reporting smoke coming out of windows.
Two occupants of building; one was elderly wheelchair-bound. Both transported to hospital. One victim died, the handicapped victim sustained serious burn injuries. Heavy fire damage to first floor, smoke damage to second floor. GPD and State Fire Marshal's Office are saying fire was deliberately set, but joint investigation continues. CBS reporting that it was a suicide attempt in defiance of those who were trying to stop their hoarding.

07:09 hrs: Box alarm for 2 MacArthur Court in Riverside.
07:15(?) hrs: E-5 rprts structure fire, 1st floor fully involved. Neighbors say 2 occupants inside, including 1 wheel-chair bound.
7:20(?) hrs: Wheel-chair bound victim pulled out through rear of structure. 2nd occupant still inside.
07:25(?) hrs: Male victim, possible DOA, pulled out through rear of structure.
07:30(?) hrs: GEMS with male victim en-route to hospital.
07:40 hrs: GPD closed Havemeyer Ln. and MacArthur Dr.
09:10 hrs: GPD CSI unit o/s.
10:30 hrs: State Fire Marshal's Office arson dog o/s.
10:50 hrs: Arson dog leaves scene.

Dispatched to neighbors reporting a structure fire on Havemeyer Lane. Car-3, E-5, 2, 1, 3(believe), T-1 on the initial dispatch. E-4, E-8, and other volunteer apparatus were added to the assignment with the report of possible victim trapped. Volunteer Officer o/s reported a working fire. E-5 arrived and confirmed with fire from the #1 floor.

Hand line (1 3/4) was stretched through the front door encountering heavy fire. Crew located a female victim and removed from the structure to awaiting firefighters. Crews performed CPR and transferred to a GEMS crew.

Continuing search located a 2nd occupant who was pulled out and again worked by firefighters and transferred to another GEMS crew.

Three hand lines where stretched, multiple ladders thrown, the roof vented, and various other tasks where performed.
