Hash is a great guy and superior Firefighter. When I was a Lieutenant in Tower Ladder 21 on W. 38th Street Rescue 1 was in quarters with us because their firehouse on W. 43 St. was destroyed in massive fire. I had the honor of with all the great bothers in Rescue 1 including Paul "Hash" Hashagen. We joked together and became friends. I also worked a few times in Rescue 1 and got to see him and the other great firefighters in action in some pretty hairy fires. By all means read his books they are all well worth while reading and you will learn a lot. His daughter is a local T.V. reporter and is as sharp as her dad. I am glad to have worked with some excellent firefighters and Paul is indeed one of them.
