High Rise Nozzle

Thanks Kevin for posting that. Another FIRST for the FDNY. Now, how long will it take other depts to claim fame to the use of the High Rise Nozzle ? I've seen it soooooooo many times before. But it was the FDNY that developed it. (That's always been a sour subject with me).
 
this is the 2nd type of High rise nozzle that actually is put onto the fire apt sill. The one that is in service now only sticks out of the apt below and shoots into the fire apt from a distance.
 
Just wondering but since so many buildings in NYC would be considered a high-rise and these nozzles don't look that expensive why doesn't every company have one instead of have to call special companies to provide one?
 
The thing to keep in mind is that this is just a longer/newer version of the old "Navy Nozzle" that has been around for 100+ years that has been applied to a high rise fire problem. Everything old is new again, especially in the fire service.
 
Did the FDNY shops build these nozzles? They pump these with 2 1/2 " hose lines? What is the tip size? Where can you get one?
 
Re earlier post regarding "Eagle High Rise Nozzle"

The post does not explain how "Eagle" is involved.  The high-rise nozzle in use by FDNY is not that shown in the video, nor is it similar to the old Navy nozzles.

The FDNY nozzle was developed by the Department's Research and Development program at Fort Totten.  It is a 9.5 foot long 1.5 inch diameter length of electrical conduit fitted with 2.5 inch shutoff and a 1 1/8 inch tip.  The nozzles were fabricated by the FDNY Marine Shops.  There is a 112 degree bend in the nozzle, allowing it to be deployed in a horizontal position from the floor below the fire.  Flows of about 200-225 GPM are obtained from normal standpipe pressures.
