Fire crews in Indianapolis battled a fire at a downtown restaurant Sunday evening. Upon arriving on scene crews found smoke coming from the building and discovered an electrical fire in the basement. On two separate occasions firefighters were backed out of the building, once at the request of incident command, and once at the request of the power company.

From the Indianapolis Fire Department on Facebook:
9:52 PM - The Whistle Stop Inn at 375 S Illinois St. sustained significant damage after fire broke out in the basement this evening. IFD Firefighters arrived to find smoke showing from the single story structure with heavy electrical arcing presenting from the basement. Working with AES, IFD crews made an aggressive attack on the blaze as AES worked to isolate the building from the grid and shut off the power. Nearby construction barricades made work difficult for the AES operator to reach the power lines with ease and several times, IFD firefighters were asked by AES to step away from the building for safety, until shut off was confirmed. The fire was brought under control in 30 minutes with no injuries. IFD Fire Investigators ruled the cause electrical.
