As the story reads...(2 Fire Crews Dipatched who are retained (on a pager) ) shows how bad things are over here...no Aerial appliance dispatched to the scene dispite this being a garage fire

it may be unusual over there, but outside of the major cities this type of response would be quite normal in the States.  Volunteers dispatched via pager are still the majority of firefighting forces here and for a fire of the size and type most departments here would not utilize an aerial.

There is an historic church beside that garage that at one stage crews had to dampen down due the intensity of the fire at one stage. Also 3 cars caught fire aswell as tanks inside the garage (2 of which exploded). A total of 10 Firefighters fought this fire

They could have had extra manpower aswell as equipment there in under 15mins. This is just another example here in Ireland of Chiefs making decisions sitting in offices and trying to save money. I will post another example of this in another story from Ireland last week in County Meath
