Maybe downtown w/Water Tower 1 and 31 Engine.johnd248 said:Where is the Water Tower moving to while the work is done?

Then I realized that there are three other trucks that are in this area 12 24 7 so it makes more seance to be with 5 engine. it is going cut in to 11 and 18 and even 7 boxes but it just makes more sense fire coverage to be on first ave. why doesn't the city just build a house for 3 truck and one of those engines and the battalion?
Yes, also look at where they put some of the newer firehouses like E17/L18, a little more than 3 blocks from E15. E13/L20 firehouse were relocated located just a few blocks from E55. The proposal to put E228 with L114 only a couple of blocks from E201 would have eliminated 201. That house was not built but they wound up eliminating E278 then combining E201 & L114 at 201's location. E36 was doomed when they were moved 2 blocks south to L14's old house that was 2blocks from E35/L14. Back in the Financial Crisis of the 70's they proposed disbanding many companies that were deemed "close" to neighboring ones and wound up eliminating some. Some were closed for a few days in 1972 and 1975: Engines: 2*, 10*(re-opened years later where E6 used to be), 13*, 14, 15, 18*, 26, 27*, 31*, 32*(after E6 was moved into their firehouse), 44, 47, 67, 89, 154(*moved to another area), 167*(reopened), 203*, 205, 208*, 212, 215*, 218, 256*, 263, 267*, 269(*Sq. 1), 272*, 293, 294*(reorganized years later), 306; Ladders: 8, 9, 53*(re-opened years later), 171*.johnd248 said:Putting two engines together in one house frequently leads to elimination of one of the companies. Only in Bridgeport: put Engine 4 in a new house for Engine and Ladder 3; after a while, they closed Ladder 3 and the two engines are still there, without a truck. Go figure.
