The new logo looks great! I'm not quite sure how it will take 3 years to renovate the house however. They can build a new 100 story high-rise in that length of time (once they get started at least) elsewhere in NYC.

city construction takes a while. Plus, since its an older building, they're gonna have to put a bit o' more work into it. Heard they were gonna be staying at L20 which seems a bit far. Figured they'd go to 4&15 since they have the space and Ten truck went there for a bit after the 11th. Don't think the 3rd bay at 7&1 is big enough for a rearmount anymore...

The only reason city construction takes a while is because everybody has to stick their hand into the cookie jar to get some of the money! Politics is such a wonderful thing everywhere but major cities like New York and Chicago take it to new heights. The fact that it's an older building doesn't make much difference because in reality it's probably built better than many of the newer buildings. Three years to renovate anything is an absurd length of time, it's not as if there's any thing that unusual in a firehouse.

3rd bay at E7/L1 house used to be Ladder 1's bay when it was first opened in 1905 then taken over by the Fire Museum before it was moved to E30 house Spring St. Back in the early 70's there was room on the 2 bay apparatus floor for Eng. 7, Tower Ladder 1 and Ladder 10's tiller rig.

4/15 is nowhere near 8 Truck so think that can be ruled out. Do Bay sizes really come into play when choosing a house for a Company to live when theirs is having work done when they can stick a cage up outside a Firehouse??

If so would a cage outside 24/5 and down Varick St be Lad 8's quickest run into their 1st due area?

Can't help noticing that many engine companies immediately adjacent to Ladder 8 have been disbanded over the years.
(Engine 13, 13-2, 27, 27-2, 29, 30, 30-2, 30-3, 31, 31-2)
How is it that the neighborhood only has a solitary ladder company in a single bay house?

Like some other areas of NYC years ago (before disbanding) there were more Units in an area that basically shut down at night.....today when these areas are occupied around the clock due to computer ops as well as residence's in what were prior commercial occupancy's there is LESS Fire protection.

Couldn't Ladder 8 temporarily stay with Ladder 20 and Division 1? Their quarters is big enough for two rigs, the outside still says Engine 13 - there must be room there and 20 truck isn't far away being they run in with each other. Now two trucks in the same house together, that'd be something.
